What should I do about legal help after I leave? If you can afford it, your first step should be to call a lawyer who practices family law to help you. You may know of someone already or you can ask for referrals from family and friends. You can also check the yellow pages of your telephone book and look for lawyers whose preferred area of practice is family law.
