In 1996, 307,000 women were the victim of sexual assault, attmepted rape, or rape. 2/3 of rape victims are under the age of 18. 29% of female victims reported that the offender was a stranger. About 81% of rape victims are white, 18% black, 1% are of other races. Those with household income under $7,500 were twice as likely to be raped.
