Same Sex Domestic Violence Statistics These statistics may also be found at The National Center for Victims of Crime There were 5,046 reported incidents of domestic violence affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender victims in 2001, an increase of 25 percent over LGBT cases reported in 2000. In 2001, 43 percent of the LGBT domestic violence victims reporting incidents identified themselves as female; 49 percent as male. An additional 4 percent identified themselves as transgender, and 4 percent as “unknown”. Seventy-two percent of LGBT victims of domestic violence identified themselves as lesbian or gay, while bisexuals accounted for six percent of LGBT victims. Of LGBT victims of domestic violence who reported their age, only 1 percent were under 18; 9 percent were between the ages of 18-22; 17 percent were between 23-29; 26 percent were 30-44; 7 percent were between 45-64; and less than one percent reported being over 65. Of LGBT victims of domestic violence reporting race or ethnicity, 27 percent identified themselves as white, 15 percent Latino, 10 percent African-American, 3 percent Asian/Pacific Islander, 1 percent multi-racial, 1 percent Native American, less than 1 percent Arab/Middle Eastern and 2 percent other.
